Your 2018-2024 Mustang was practically destined to make more power than stock and hit the track or drag strip with ferocity, and while both the 2.3L EcoBoost and 5.0L Coyote V8 an handle a ton of power, your stock 10R80 transmission suffers from a few reliability issues that can show up and ruin your day when you stack on the power. The Tier One Stage 2 10R80 Performance Transmission can handle absolutely massive amounts of horsepower and torque on both the street and the track so that you can push your EcoBoost or Coyote V8 Pony to the absolute limits of its performance without letting you down. Our Stage 2 Transmission can handle up to 725 horsepower, giving you the capability to add big turbos, full bolt-ons, and tuning to your EcoBoost Mustang or run all but the most powerful superchargers on the market for the Mustang 5.0L GTs. All of our Stage 2 10R80 transmissions use a combination of aftermarket performance upgrades, new and updated OEM components, and OE-replacement parts that all work together to fix common 10R80 transmission problems while giving the Stage 2 the ability to handle huge power levels. Tier One builds each Stage 2 10R80 transmission around an OEM valve body fitted with a RatioTek Performance Trans Tuner Valve Body Kit that comes with new springs and hardware to provide fast and accurate shifting, while also increasing fluid flow to parts of the transmission that tend to get under-lubricated when put under load. Tier One includes a new SunCoast Pro-Loc torque converter with a billet stator that can handle more power than the OEM converter. In order to get the Stage 2 10R80 transmission to hold more power, we here at Tier One use GPZ performance clutches that have a more aggressive friction material than stock, and we increase the total clutch count by two. Movement of the original stock CDF clutch hub when under load is a common point of failure on the 10R80 transmissions, and we included an updated OEM CDF clutch hub that has a stepped design on the outer drum which prevents movement that can cause pump bushing failures and lubrication issues. To further improve lubrication, Tier One drills three small holes in the P3 carrier that allows for more fluid flow to the P3 clutches while not compromising the strength of the carrier itself. Each Stage 2 10R80 transmission also comes with a new OEM P4 gear hub and new OE-style pump bushing to further improve reliability. The Stage 2 10R80 is topped off with a new filter and a cast aluminum transmission pan that helps to improve cooling while also being more resistant to leaks and cracks than the stock pan.

All parts and components are disassembled and cleaned from our OEM cores to ensure your new 10R80 transmission is free from contaminants and other debris. We carefully inspect your transmission’s planetary geartrain for damage before fully speccing all your bearings and washers for endplay. The included rebuild kit includes new seals, gaskets, and sealing rings to replace all the wearable parts of the transmission before it’s installed on your Ford Mustang.

For Automatic Mustangs Only: this transmission will only fit 2018-2024 Mustangs that came from the factory with 10R80 automatic transmissions, and this transmission cannot be used out of the box for an automatic swap on a Mustang equipped with a manual transmission.
