Even though the Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks are generally pretty reliable, it's no secret that their transmissions are a serious weak point, and its an issue that Chrysler and Ram has failed to really address over several generations of trucks. The 47RE, 48RE, 68RFE, and even the Aisin AS68RC or AS69RC transmissions can all struggle to stay in one piece, even on bone-stock trucks. When you add on power, big tires, heavy towing, tough off-roading, and/or track use, the factory Ram 2500 & 3500 transmissions can more or less turn into time bombs.

Performance Tuners for Ram 2500 & 3500 Trucks:

It's not exactly a secret that adding performance tuning will give the Ram Cummins trucks a huge increase in horsepower and torque, and we here at Tier One have more than a few Ram Cummins tuners available that can help you take your Ram 6.7L Cummins build to the next level of power and performance. Tuners have the ability to give your Ram Cummins build a bunch more horsepower and torque by uploading new software to your truck's engine management computer either via your Rams' OBD-II port or through modules that hook into your Ram's engine management system. This new software turns up your truck's boost pressure, adjusts fueling, changes shift points (on trucks with electronically controlled transmissions), and a ton of other parameters so that your truck gets a huge bump in performance.

Some of these tuners can even function as full-fledged monitors that allow you to keep tabs on your Ram's engine and transmission functions so that you can spot problems before they become disasters. Ram Cummins performance monitors can display basically any information your truck outputs through its OBD-II port is easy-to-read and customizable gauges. Many of these monitors also feature color touch screen displays that make it extremely easy to change gauges and adjust parameters on the fly.

Suspension Upgrades for Ram 2500 & 3500 Trucks:

A big Ram Cummins just doesn't look quite right on the factory wheels and tires. Your either want to add some lift to fit on big tires for the dirt or lower your truck to get on slicks for the track, the factory ride height just isn't going to cut it. Dodge Ram 2500 & 3500 Leveling Kits:

By far the most common suspension upgrades for the Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks are leveling kits. Leveling kits raise the front ride height of your Ram 2500 or 3500 just enough to reduce or completely eliminate your Ram's factory front rake for a cleaner look, all while adding suspension clearance to your Ram's front end in order to fit on bigger tires. Leveling kits are generally easier to install than complete lift kits, and there's a wide variety of Ram leveling kits to choose from that range from budget-friendly spacer systems all the way to powerful coilover conversion systems that can help your HD Ram rip around off-road at high speeds without letting you down.

Dodge Ram 2500 & 3500 Lift Kits:

If a leveling kit just isn't enough for your tough Ram 2500 or 3500 Cummins build, then jumping up to a complete lift kit may be your best bet. Ram Cummins lift kits add ride height to both the front and rear of your truck, and some can add upwards of 8" of ride height to your Ram, giving you the ability to fit absolutely massive wheel and tire combinations onto your Ram 2500 or 3500. Most complete lift kits range from 4" to 6" in total height and come with new shocks, track bar brackets, and often other hardware so that you can get your Ram's alignment back in order at its new ride height. There's all sorts of Ram lift kits available that range from basic front and rear spacer kits with white-body shocks to immensely powerful lift kits that include 4-link systems, coilover conversions, and 2.5 shocks that can handle tough off-road challenges without letting you or your truck down.

Ram 2500 & 3500 Tonneau Covers:

Keeping the weather and prying eyes out of your Ram 6.7L Cummins' bed is never a bad thing, and a tonneau cover or bed cover for Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks will do the job. Tonneau covers easily install over your Ram Cummins' bed and many can fold, roll, or slide out of the way so that you get full access to your Ram's bed. There's more than a few tonneau cover types available that can fit any budget or application.

Soft roll-up tonneau covers are made out of vinyl or twill material and have the ability to roll and tuck completely against your Ram's cab, which gives you full access to your Ram's bed relatively easily. Soft roll-up tonneau covers are fairly inexpensive, and they're a great choice if you still want to see out your back window while getting full access to your bed when you need to load large cargo. The big downside to soft roll-up tonneau covers is that they aren't the most secure things in the world, and a determined ne'er-do-well would be able to cut through and get at whatever gear you keep stowed in your truck's bed.

Hard Folding tonneau covers feature panels that are made out of hard composite materials or even aluminum that then fold on top of each other towards your Ram's cab. While most hard-folding tonneau covers can fold all the way up against your cab, lower-budget systems may only be dual-fold and may block portions of the bed. In any case, hard-folding tonneau covers offer excellent levels of security and weather resistance in extremely low-profile packages that stay fairly flush with your Ram's bed rails. Hard folding tonneau covers are extremely secure and do an excellent job of keeping prying eyes and fast hands out of your Ram's bed. They do tend to be more expensive than soft roll-up tonneau covers, but that extra price may be worth it if you tend to keep gear inside your truck's bed.

Retractable tonneau covers are tonneau covers that slide along their rails and retract into a bed-mounted canister. Retractable tonneau covers are extremely pricey, but they offer nearly unparalleled weather resistance and security that's paired with extremely easy bed access. Some retractable tonneau covers are even electrically operated, allowing you to open and close them with the push of the button. The only major downside to retractable tonneau covers (outside of the price) is that the canister takes up a decent chunk of bed space, which can be an issue if you're looking to haul large items.

Ram 2500 & 3500 Lighting Upgrades:

The factory headlights and taillights may do their jobs adequately during normal street driving, but even newer Ram 2500 or 3500 models with optional LED headlights don't pack enough punch for some applications, and models with base halogen reflector headlights tend to look pretty bland.
