2013-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins Valve Bodies:
The factory valve body on the 68RFE transmission is the source of a ton of issues with the 6.7L Cummins Rams and swapping it out with a high-pressure 68RFE valve body or billet 68RFE valve body is a great way to win your transmission back both excellent functionality and long-term reliability all in one place. The factory valve body suffers from several design flaws that cause cross-leaks, pressure loss, and solenoid issues that can lead to weird shifting behavior, the dreaded P0871 trouble code, and a lack of lubrication to your Ram's other critical transmission components. The stock transmission pump on the 68RFE transmissions can suffer from some issues that lead them to produce lower pressures than what's ideal for your Ram's transmission, which can lead to sub-optimal line pressures which can give your truck weird shifting behavior, as well as a lack of lubrication for your Ram's critical transmission components. The stock thermostatic valve is a block with an integrated thermostat element that controls fluid flow from your Ram's transmission to its transmission cooler. The valve stays closed until your Ram's transmission fluid reaches an optimum temperature, then it opens and allows fluid to flow out to your Ram's transmission cooler. Unfortunately, that thermostat element likes to fail or get clogged with debris which makes it get stuck closed and keeps hot transmission fluid flowing back into your Ram's transmission. Thermal bypass valves for 2013-2018 Ram 2500 & 3500 trucks work by deleting the thermostat element in its entirety, which removes a potential point of failure that can seriously hurt your Ram's transmission. The stock transmission pan doesn't come with a drain plug, which makes a swapping out your Ram's transmission fluid and filter a giant pain in the neck. The stock pan is also made out of stamped steel which isn't the most effective material for dissipating heat, and its design doesn't let it hold as much fluid as it possibly can.
