The stock Chrysler 68RFE transmission helping to power your 2007.5-2018 Ram 2500 or 3500 6.7L Cummins isn't known for its reliability or power-holding at stock power levels, much less when you stack on some serious Cummins parts and tuning that turns its horsepower and torque up by a huge margin. Tier One's Stage 3 68RFE built transmission can hold absolutely enormous levels of horsepower and torque so that you can stack on massive turbochargers, high-flow injectors, nitrous and water-meth systems, and aggressive Cummins tuning onto your Ram 2500 or Ram 3500 without your truck's transmission letting you down. Tier One's 68RFE Stage 3 transmission comes with high-strength and highly reliable internal components that can hold up to 900 horsepower. On top of the transmission internals, the Stage 3 kit also includes other critical transmission components so that your high-powered 6.7L Cummins build can get all the power and torque it needs to dominate its competition out at the sled pull or down at the drag strip. Complete 6.7L Cummins Transmission that Includes High-Strength Billet Components to Handle Up to 900 Horsepower
The Tier One Stage 3 68RFE transmissions are designed from the ground up to handle enormous levels of power and carefully assembled by Tier One's expert transmission technicians who have decades of combined experience with transmission building. The Stage 3 68RFE transmission package includes a billet steel flexplate that's capable of holding a ton more horsepower and torque than the factory flex plate. Each Stage 3 transmission comes with a billet triple-disc torque converter that's stronger than stock to avoid warping and features three discs for increased surface area and power holding capability. Tier One includes a billet maraging steel input shaft with each Stage 3 transmission that manages far more power than stock or even standard 300M billet steel input shafts. The Stage 3 68RFE transmission is fitted with a billet input clutch drum that's far stronger than stock to avoid flex under extreme power loads. The Stage 3 transmission also includes a billet steel outer drum that provides room for more and thicker clutches while also being stronger than stock. Further improving clutch power-holding capability is a billet steel overdrive clutch hub that features a one-piece design that's far stronger than bonded 2-piece designs. A billet steel center support is also used to prevent clutch gouging and maintain reliable shifting during aggressive applications. The Stage 3 68RFE transmission includes both a 4C and 2C billet pistons so that you get reliable gear changes while making huge power. Tier One also includes a billet 4C spring retainer that prevents the common problem of gear walkout on 68RFEs running with extra power. Each Stage 3 transmission features a rollerized sprag that handles hard shifting and lockups at increased power levels much more effectively than stock. The heart and soul of the Tier One 68RFE transmissions is its Tier One billet valve body that features much higher levels of strength than stock, allow with deeper worm tracks to increase fluid flow and reduce heat buildup. The valve body comes with billet accumulators with extra seals and a bonded separator plate to prevent cross leaks. Each transmission comes with a deep transmission pan that holds more fluid and improves cooling over stock. A Performance Rebuild Kit overhauls each transmission with new clutches and other wearable parts to ensure excellent engagement and shifting and includes 18 overdrive clutches, five 2C clutches, and five 4C clutches. Tier One throws in a new OEM line sensor and solenoids for good measure. The Stage 3 68RFE is topped off with new gaskets and seals before being air-checked for potential leaks.
Fully Overhauled 68FRE Transmission for Excellent Reliability
During our build of your 68RFE Stage 3 transmission, we here at Tier One go over every millimeter of its internal components to guarantee excellent function and reliability. All parts are disassembled and cleaned from our OEM cores to ensure your new 68RFE transmission is free from contaminants and other debris. We carefully inspect your transmission's planetary gear train for damage before fully speccing all bearings and washers for endplay. The original transmission pump is flat-sanded, checked for proper clearances, and vacuum-tested. The valve body is likewise flat-sanded and its solenoids thoroughly inspected for better than OEM function, and we replace the OEM accumulator plate to avoid potential codes and issues down the road. Each transmission is also fitted with a TIG-welded planetary pinions. The performance rebuild kit includes new Borg Warner clutches, seals, gaskets, and sealing rings to replace all the wearable parts of the transmission before it's installed on your Ram 2500 or Ram 3500.
Thorough Testing of the Valve Body and Entire Transmission Before Shipping
We here at Tier One take pride in every built 68RFE transmission we manufacture for the Ram 6.7L Cummins trucks. To make sure that you get a transmission that's as tough as your truck, Tier One puts both the valve bodies and the entire assembled transmission through rigorous testing to ensure you get the reliability you need for heavy towing and hauling applications with your 6.7L Cummins diesel. Before the assembly of the valve body, it goes through flat-sanding vacuum-testing. All valve body solenoids are carefully tested to ensure flawless operation. After assembly of the valve body, it goes through rigorous dyno-testing to ensure proper fluid flow, line pressures, and solenoid operation. After final assembly of the transmission itself, we put it through a complete air-check to find potential leaks before putting the entire transmission on our in-house transmission dyno to ensure proper operation, performance, and power-holding.

Optional Upgrades: the following upgrades are optional, but are available if you’re looking for even better reliability and power-holding:
- Bypass upgrade: deletes the stock thermal control valve to improve fluid flow through your transmission for better cooling.
- Auxiliary Cooler Kit: adds a secondary transmission cooler to your truck to further improve cooling during heavy towing and racing applications.
Tuning Notes:
- This transmission can be ran with factory tuning
- For smooth shifts, please do not use max idle transmission line pressures. Line pressures should increase smoothly with throttle input until 225psi is reached before 1/4 throttle
- We strongly recommend keeping the factory lockup sequence to prevent harsh shifting and broken shafts
- Low/reverse sprag holdout is required on this transmission to prevent major gear train damage
Recommended gearing: the following gearing is recommended for the following tire sizes, and is required for Tier One to honor your warranty:
- 35" Tire: 4.10 gears or higher
- 37" Tire: 4.30 gears or higher
- +38" Tire: 4.56 gears or higher
Transmission Break-in: in order to maintain your warranty, this transmission requires a 300-mile break-in and a 100-mile relearn. Please check out
