Built 48RE Transmission that's Ready to put Down Huge Power at the Track, Sled Pull, or Dyno Day
2003 Ram 2500 and 3500 5.9L Cummins builds that are destined for absolutely massive levels of power are going to need a transmission that can handle it. The Tier One Stage 5 48RE built transmission can handle up to 1000 horsepower, letting you throw extremely powerful compound turbo systems, water-meth or nitrous injection systems, massive injectors, ultra-aggressive tuning, and a full suite of bolt-on parts onto your Ram Cummins build so that you can dominate your competition. The Stage 5 48RE transmission features a ton of uprated and billet 48RFE internal and external parts that allow the transmission to hold huge levels of horsepower without letting you and your 5.9L Cummins down. On top of holding insane amounts of power, the Stage 5 48RE transmission fixes nearly all the flaws of the stock 48REs so that you get excellent transmission reliability, even if your truck is throwing down huge horsepower.
Comes with an Almost-Total Billet Overhaul of the stock 48RE Transmission to Handle Big Power
The Stage 5 48RE Transmission comes with a huge list of upgraded and billet parts for your 2003 Ram 5.9L Cummins that all work together to make the transmission hold enormous levels of horsepower and torque. Tier One includes a new billet SunCoast Triple-Disc torque converter with 35 input splines that's mated to a Sonnax 35-spline billet input shaft to increase the spline surface area for improved power-holding. Each Stage 5 48RE transmission comes with a billet flex plate that's more resistant to warping and cracking than stock. Further increasing internal strength is a Sonnax billet intermediate shaft and billet 23-spline output shaft that can handle the immense rotational forces from high-power builds. Each Stage 5 48RE transmission comes with high-strength hardware that shores up the notoriously failure-prone 2nd gear band, including a billet 2nd gear band, billet 2nd gear band strut, billet 2nd gear band anchor, billet 4.2 lever, and billet 2nd gear servo. The billet second gear components work together to ensure there's no band flex, warping, or leaks under load or high-RPM launches. The Stage 5 48RE transmission comes with a Tier One High-Pressure "Race" Valve body that's designed to handle high line pressures while under load so that your transmission components stay adequately lubricated while you rocket on the track or dyno. Tier One also includes a billet Belleville spring and billet rear servo. The Stage 5 48RE Transmission also receives TiG welding on the ring gears, as well as new Teflon-coated thrust washers. Tier One also includes a heavy-duty governor solenoid and transducer to fix those two common failure points. Each Stage 5 transmission comes with a deep transmission pan with more fluid capacity than stock to help keep the transmission running cooler. The Stage 5 built transmission includes a performance rebuild kit that comes with 6 overdrive clutches and 7 direct clutches along with their necessary hardware and seals. The transmission is topped off with new gaskets and seals before being air-checked for potential leaks.
Fully Overhauled 48RE Transmission for Excellent Reliability
During our build of your 48RE Stage 5 transmission, we here at Tier One go over every millimeter of its internal components to guarantee excellent function and reliability. All parts are disassembled and cleaned from our OEM cores to ensure your new 48RE transmission is free from contaminants and other debris. We carefully inspect your transmission’s planetary gear train for damage before fully speccing all bearings and washers for endplay. The original transmission pump gets a cut stator, and is then checked for proper clearances. The valve body is likewise flat-sanded and its solenoids thoroughly inspected for better than OEM function. The performance rebuild kit includes new Borg Warner clutches, seals, gaskets, and sealing rings to replace all the wearable parts of the transmission before it’s installed on your Ram 2500 or Ram 3500.
Thorough Testing of the Valve Body and Entire Transmission Before Shipping
We here at Tier One take pride in every built 48RE transmission we manufacture for the Ram 5.9L Cummins trucks. To make sure that you get a transmission that’s as tough as your truck, Tier One puts both the valve bodies and the entire assembled transmission through rigorous testing to ensure you get the reliability you need for heavy towing and hauling applications with your 5.9L Cummins diesel. Once the valve body has been assembled, it’s air-checked for leaks before being put on our in-house valve body dyno to ensure proper fluid flow and pressure management. After final assembly of the transmission itself, we put it through a complete air-check to find potential leaks before putting the entire transmission on our in-house transmission dyno to ensure proper operation, performance, and power-holding.
