It's not hard to get the 6.7L Cummins under the hood of your awesome 2019-2024 Ram 2500 or 3500 churning out a ton more horsepower and torque with the right combination of tuning, turbo upgrades, injectors, and other bolt-on performance parts. However, the stock 68RFE transmission helping to power your truck already struggles to handle stock power. Tier One's Stage 2 68RFE transmission is our most popular 68RFE transmission option and comes with all of the upgraded components necessary to let your 6.7L Cummins Ram hit huge levels of power and dominate your competition on the street, at the track, or off the beaten path. The Tier One Stage 2 built 68RFE transmission can hold up to 750 horsepower, making it capable of holding power from all but the most aggressive tuning and performance upgrades. On top of improved power handling, we here at Tier One also include all the hardware and components necessary to fix common issues with the 68RFE so that your truck gets clean shifting and reliable operation, even when it's making massive power and torque. The Stage 2 68RFE transmission is the perfect choice for 6.7L Cummins Rams that are pushing out serious power while also towing heavy, rocking big tires for off-roading, hitting the sled pulls, or even killing it at the Run-What-You-Brung drag nights at your local track. The Tier One Stage 2 Transmissions are built with care with technicians that have decades of combined experience in the performance transmission market. Each Stage 2 68RFE starts its life as factory 68RFE core that's fully disassembled, cleaned, and thoroughly inspected for damage before being repurposed for a Stage 2 68RFE transmission build. We include a
SunCoast Cat 1 Billet Triple-Disc Torque Converter that's resistant to warp and whose three discs provide a ton of surface area for holding power and load. Replacing the stock input shaft is a
Precision Billet Input Shaft made out of 300M steel that can handle and hold huge power in extremely aggressive applications.
The Stage 2 68RFE transmission now comes standard with the
Sonnax Billet Smart-Tech® Overdrive Clutch Housing Kit. We made this upgrade to ensure the outer factory drum does not break anymore—a common failure resulting in the loss of 4th through 6th gears, especially in heavy-duty trucks or those with locked 4th gear shifts. This unique billet aluminum housing increases the OD apply area by 16% for greater holding power. It also allows for a physically taller clutch pack, taking the count from 12 to
16 overdrive clutches. A bolt-on anchor plate eliminates clutch pack flexing and distortion, significantly reducing heat build-up.
Tier One includes a billet 4C spring retainer and a
Billet 2C Piston that handles the strain of extra horsepower better than stock. The heart of the Stage 2 68RFE is its Tier One High Pressure Valve Body that features a
19+ Billet Channel Plate to resist flex under load and prevent cross-leaks. The build also includes a
68RFE Switch Valve Repair Kit and a
Billet Accumulator Kit to further bulletproof the hydraulic system. We install a new
Laser Separator Plate (Late 2019+) and a new Accumulator Cover Plate to avoid potential codes and issues down the road. Each transmission comes with a deep transmission pan that holds more fluid than stock to improve cooling. The Stage 2 transmission is also fitted with a high-performance overhaul kit that includes new wearable parts. Tier One throws in a new
19+ Solenoid Assembly and OEM pressure sensor to ensure proper operation. Each Stage 2 68RFE transmission is topped off with new seals and gaskets before being air-checked for leaks.
Thorough Testing of the Valve Body and Entire Transmission Before Shipping
We here at Tier One take pride in every built 68RFE transmission we manufacture for the Ram 6.7L Cummins trucks. To make sure that you get a transmission that's as tough as your truck, Tier One puts both the valve bodies and the entire assembled transmission through rigorous testing to ensure you get the reliability you need for heavy towing and hauling applications with your 6.7L Cummins diesel. Before the assembly of the valve body, it goes through flat-sanding vacuum-testing. All valve body solenoids are carefully tested to ensure flawless operation. After assembly of the valve body, it goes through rigorous dyno-testing to ensure proper fluid flow, line pressures, and solenoid operation. After final assembly of the transmission itself, we put it through a complete air-check to find potential leaks and functionality issues.
If we are not performing the transmission installation, the customer or their chosen repair shop is responsible for transferring the lock-up solenoid from the original transmission to the replacement transmission.

For 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins only: this transmission will only fit 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins 2500 & 3500 trucks with 68RFE transmissions. If you have an older 6.7L Cummins Ram, please check out our

Optional Upgrades: the following upgrades are optional, but are available if you're looking for even better reliability and power-holding:
- Billet OD Clutch Hub: offers increased strength over the two-piece clutch hub to improve reliability at high power levels.
- Billet Flex plate: high-strength flexplate made from CNC machined billet steel that's more durable than the factory flexplate.
- Bypass upgrade: deletes the stock thermal control valve to improve fluid flow through your transmission for better cooling.
- Mishimoto Cooler Kit: adds a secondary transmission cooler to your truck to further improve cooling during heavy towing and racing applications.
Tuning Notes:
- Max line pressure during road test: High pressure VB needs to be at 225psi at 25-30% throttle angle (Stock VBs are 160psi).
- Line pressure in reverse should reach 250psi.
- Use of factory lock strategy must be used or transmission damage will occur.
- UD Pulse: 2019 and up should have UD pulse turned off (Please verify on 2017 and 2018 Rams as some are equipped with this option).
- Every 68RFE must have a relearn completed or failure will result.
Recommended gearing: the following gearing is recommended for the following tire sizes, and is required for Tier One to honor your warranty:
- 35" Tire: 4.10 gears or higher
- 37" Tire: 4.30 gears or higher
- +38" Tire: 4.56 gears or higher
Transmission Break-in: in order to maintain your warranty, this transmission requires a 300-mile break-in and a 100-mile relearn. Please check out

Core charge: this transmission includes a $2500.00 core charge that will be refunded once Tier One receives your stock transmission, inspects it, and finds it acceptable condition. The core charge can be waived if you send in or drop off your stock transmission ahead of time. You
will not receive a core charge back if you did not pay it up front. If you drop off your core ahead of time you will be charged for any hard parts that are required to build your core.
