The stock Chrysler 68RFE transmission helping to power your 2019-2024 Ram 2500 or 3500 6.7L Cummins isn't known for its reliability or power-holding at stock power levels, much less when you stack on some serious Cummins parts and tuning that turns its horsepower and torque up by a huge margin. Tier One's Stage 3 68RFE built transmission can hold absolutely enormous levels of horsepower and torque so that you can stack on massive turbochargers, high-flow injectors, nitrous and water-meth systems, and aggressive Cummins tuning onto your Ram 2500 or Ram 3500 without your truck's transmission letting you down. The Tier One Stage 3 68RFE transmissions are designed from the ground up to handle enormous levels of power and carefully assembled by Tier One's expert transmission technicians who have decades of combined experience with transmission building. Each Stage 3 transmission comes with a
SunCoast Billet Triple-Disc Torque Converter with Billet Stator that's stronger than stock to avoid warping and features three discs for increased surface area and power holding capability. Tier One includes a
TCS Billet Maraging Steel Input Shaft with each Stage 3 transmission that manages far more power than stock or even standard 300M billet steel input shafts.
We have upgraded the core architecture of the transmission with the ultimate drum combination. This build features the
Sonnax Billet Smart-Tech® Outer Drum which eliminates the common snap-ring blowout failure and allows for increased clutch capacity. We pair this with a massive
Billet Inner Drum, ensuring that both rotating assemblies can withstand the shock load of 900HP launches without fracturing.
The Stage 3 transmission also includes a
Billet Steel Center Support to prevent clutch gouging and maintain reliable shifting during aggressive applications. Further improving clutch power-holding capability is a
300M Billet OD Clutch Hub that features a one-piece design that's far stronger than bonded 2-piece designs. The Stage 3 68RFE transmission includes both
Billet 2C and Billet 4C pistons so that you get reliable gear changes while making huge power. Tier One also includes a billet 4C spring retainer that prevents the common problem of gear walkout on 68RFEs running with extra power. The heart and soul of the Tier One 68RFE transmissions is its Tier One billet valve body that features a
19+ Billet Channel Plate,
Billet Accumulator Kit, and Switch Valve Repair Kit. The valve body comes with extra seals and a new
Laser Separator Plate (Late 2019+) to prevent cross leaks. Each transmission comes with a deep transmission pan that holds more fluid and improves cooling over stock. A Performance Rebuild Kit overhauls each transmission with new clutches and other wearable parts to ensure excellent engagement and shifting. Tier One throws in a new
19+ Solenoid Assembly and OEM pressure sensor for good measure. The Stage 3 68RFE is topped off with new gaskets and seals before being air-checked for potential leaks.
Thorough Testing of the Valve Body and Entire Transmission Before Shipping
We here at Tier One take pride in every built 68RFE transmission we manufacture for the Ram 6.7L Cummins trucks. To make sure that you get a transmission that's as tough as your truck, Tier One puts both the valve bodies and the entire assembled transmission through rigorous testing to ensure you get the reliability you need for heavy towing and hauling applications with your 6.7L Cummins diesel. Before the assembly of the valve body, it goes through flat-sanding vacuum-testing. All valve body solenoids are carefully tested to ensure flawless operation. After assembly of the valve body, it goes through rigorous dyno-testing to ensure proper fluid flow, line pressures, and solenoid operation. After final assembly of the transmission itself, we put it through a complete air-check to find potential leaks and ensure proper operation.
If we are not performing the transmission installation, the customer or their chosen repair shop is responsible for transferring the lock-up solenoid from the original transmission to the replacement transmission.

Optional Upgrades: the following upgrades are optional, but are available if you're looking for even better reliability and power-holding:
- Billet Flex plate: high-strength flexplate made from CNC machined billet steel that's more durable than the factory flexplate.
- Bypass upgrade: deletes the stock thermal control valve to improve fluid flow through your transmission for better cooling.
- Mishimoto Cooler Kit: adds a secondary transmission cooler to your truck to further improve cooling during heavy towing and racing applications.
Tuning Notes:
- Max line pressure during road test: High pressure VB needs to be at 225psi at 25-30% throttle angle (Stock VBs are 160psi).
- Line pressure in reverse should reach 250psi.
- Use of factory lock strategy must be used or transmission damage will occur.
- UD Pulse: 2019 and up should have UD pulse turned off (Please verify on 2017 and 2018 Rams as some are equipped with this option).
- Every 68RFE must have a relearn completed or failure will result.
Recommended gearing: the following gearing is recommended for the following tire sizes, and is required for Tier One to honor your warranty:
- 35" Tire: 4.10 gears or higher
- 37" Tire: 4.30 gears or higher
- +38" Tire: 4.56 gears or higher
Transmission Break-in: in order to maintain your warranty, this transmission requires a 300-mile break-in and a 100-mile relearn. Please check out

Core charge: this transmission includes a $2500.00 core charge that will be refunded once Tier One receives your stock transmission, inspects it, and finds it acceptable condition. The core charge can be waived if you send in or drop off your stock transmission ahead of time. You
will not receive a core charge back if you did not pay it up front. If you drop off your core ahead of time you will be charged for any hard parts that are required to build your core.
